The client was using a leading Enterprise Legal Management (ELM) solution in their US based legal and claims functions and wanted to roll out to Europe. The client’s system was well understood in the US, however they had no system established elsewhere. Yerra assisted with requirements gathering and analysis, project management and change management. For the client, the greatest challenge was managing change during the European team's transition to the new environment. Upon completion of this project, the client was able to roll out the ELM solution to Europe successfully and in the process gained an optimized global view of their business activities, spend and risks.

Yerra was engaged to help solve the challenges posed by a lack of visibility into the client's global legal spend and limited business-related management information (MI). The bank was experiencing issues with existing systems and vendors and, when looking to upgrade products, they faced high costs and long timelines. Yerra undertook an in-depth current state analysis, defined a Target Operating Model (TOM) and gap analysis and provided a roadmap to implement the change that was needed. The client benefitted from Yerra’s deep industry and subject matter expertise and was able to define and execute on a strategy to improve legal department operations.

Yerra was engaged by the UK legal department of a global accounting firm to provide an overview of the legal technology market for matter management, document management, contract management and knowledge management solutions. A thorough market analysis was done, providing an overview of possible vendors across each function and highlighting their key strengths, weaknesses and relevance to the client’s needs. The bank wished to improve the efficiency of their contract management process for swaps and derivatives. The existing contract management system had been built in-house over a number of years, and the overall papering and negotiation process needed to be optimized. Yerra was engaged to run the selection and implementation process to replace ten disparate systems with one single Enterprise Legal Management (ELM) platform. Yerra provided a dedicated team of experts who had the depth of experience to handle this project's scale and complexity. The team assisted the client in carrying out a complex RFP process, which involved the end-to-end management of the system selection from defining requirements to demos. After the selection, Yerra's legal software implementation experts guided the client through the process of designing the system and supporting processes in a way that would suit their particular needs and generate significant efficiencies. The client benefitted from Yerra’s deep knowledge of the legal technology industry and sophisticated technological approaches in consolidating to a single ELM platform.
Solutions for Technology Implementations
After searching unsuccessfully for an eBilling and spend management solution that could meet its needs, this large Pharmaceutical IP department chose to implement Yerra Clearly. Their existing system had been rolled out in the US but, as is common with global eBilling implementations, had struggled to get off the ground in other parts of the world. Yerra offered a hybrid approach between software-only and outsourced invoice review. This enabled the client to start receiving 100% of invoices from 100% of global vendors in just weeks. Additionally, the combination of artificial and human intelligence has resulted in superior reports and actionable insights, all while reducing the client's burden of system administration, vendor support and data compilation.

Following an acquisition the client found themselves with several IP management systems supported by disparate processes and operational structures. Transparency, visibility and global process alignment were three key aims in the selection, replacement and implementation of a new Intellectual Asset Management system. Yerra was engaged to assist in all aspects of the project, from detailed data conversion to change and transformation planning. Due to a deep understanding of both IT and IP, Yerra helped ensure success by bridging the gap between the technical and business requirements. Yerra was engaged to conduct an analysis of the IP operations of an acquired company in order to better align with the new parent organization. The normal course of an acquisiton had created a situation where the joined group was not operating in the most efficient and optimal manner. Yerra conducted the analysis at all global locations, leading and documenting in-depth discussions with top executives and staff. The resulting report detailed all potential areas of efficiency and process optimization based on industry best practice, within the wider context of a new target operating model. Following a period of intensive consultation, the proposal was accepted and implemented. This international bank requested Yerra’s assistance to help understand problematic areas in their eDiscovery process and to define an eDiscovery Target Operating Model. To meet the client’s request, Yerra carried out onsite consulting and proposed a Target Operating Model that would improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the client’s eDiscovery process. The client has benefitted from implementing a more structured approach, and from awareness of how they could best implement the more advanced solutions recommended by Yerra. Ultimately, having increased structure around the eDiscovery process helped the client to make better strategic decisions.

The client engaged Yerra to assess their level of eDiscovery readiness. Yerra performed an analysis of the client’s current eDiscovery and Information Governance processes to determine the optimum path to handling large litigation or arbitration cases. There was concern about the company’s ability to respond to eDiscovery and disclosure requests due to a lack of clarity around the company’s processes to identify, collect and present key documents during disputes. The client gained a clear understanding of the risks and immediate problems which it faced and needed to address before taking the next step of selecting an appropriate technology solution. The report was structured so that the client could independently utilize the findings as the basis of their corporate eDiscovery strategy and future decision-making.

An international bank requested Yerra’s assistance in identifying a legal hold solution that would best suit the bank’s eDiscovery needs. Additionally, the client sought Yerra’s industry expertise in determining whether it had the right approach towards its eDiscovery practice. To meet these requests, Yerra fulfilled an advisory role in first thoroughly understanding the client’s requirements and then using extensive industry knowledge of the legal eDiscovery technology vendor landscape to find the most suitable service providers which could match the previously identified and defined requirements. As Yerra paid special attention to aligning the most suitable technology vendors with the bank’s corporate strategy, the client could save considerable time, effort and financial resources in finding the perfect match to meet their eDiscovery needs.

The client requested case management support from Yerra on one of the largest investigations and widely affecting issues to hit the bank to date. The bank faced issues of scale and scope due to the vast numbers of potential custodians and suspects implicated, combined with the large number of data sources required from a complex IT environment. In order to guide the client through the process, Yerra provided the expert resource to manage the case end-to-end from an eDiscovery standpoint. Additionally, by taking proactive measures together with a rational and risk based approach, Yerra reduced the client’s storage costs, as well as the bank’s exposure to regulatory censure and regulatory penalties.

This client was in the process of setting up a “Three Lines of Defense” program as well as a legal and compliance risk framework. Yerra was requested to review, validate, and constructively challenge the progress to date and make changes to enable completion. Yerra brought industry experts into the team, who worked closely with the client. Through successfully implementing this project, a Three Lines of Defense program was completed, improving the client’s legal risk framework.

An international Swiss bank requested Yerra’s assistance with increasing flexibility of the controls which needed to be carried out on a large number of the client’s financial contracts, such as ISDAs, large trading contracts, and MSAs. The client faced challenges with checking these contracts internally on a consistent level, due to which it was experiencing issues due unflagged vague language used in some contracts. Yerra recognized the great risk that these issues posed to the client’s business, and stepped in to provide flexible managed services in the form of an output-based contracts quality assurance solution. The client could rest assured that all their large financial contracts were carefully controlled against a strict framework, and across three different control levels. Yerra’s assistance has contributed greatly towards improving overall contract quality, thus significantly reducing risk to the client’s business.
Yerra was approached by the client in question for its expertise in Compliance, specifically with regards to GDPR. The commercial broadcaster initiated this project by conducting research into the market for GDPR tools, however Yerra’s assistance was requested to provide a revised GDPR requirements document, as well as vendor screening and comparison in order to assist with the progression of the project. The selected GDPR solution needed to fulfil numerous organizational, regulatory and security requirements, including the need to have appropriate data segregation to reflect the client’s decentralized structure. Yerra took the client’s requirements under close consideration and recommended a GDPR solution previously unidentified by the client, providing the broadcaster with a wider range of options and valuable insight into its own GDPR requirements and internal processes.
