Understanding the EU GDPR

January 27, 2017  | Josie Johnson

As a European company operating globally, Yerra is uniquely positioned to help our clients and the business community understand the details and ramifications of the EU GDPR law. As we add content on the subject, it will be posted to this page.

EU GDPR Data Privacy

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was enacted by the EU in December 2015 and becomes enforceable in 2018. It expands upon the previous data privacy laws that protect citizens in various EU nations and brings all of the EU under one regulatory framework. Companies have until May 25, 2018 before the law applies to them. Preparation is critical!

It is important to note that even companies outside of the EU will be impacted. The regulations are based on WHO the data is about not WHERE the data lives. If you have EU citizens in your database or customer base, you’re liable.

Brexit won't save UK companies either. In plans for Brexit, Teresa May confirmed that the UK will retain the EU GDPR
